Here are a few photos of Jays that I took recently. One is a young, fledgling that I saw far away in the forest. It stayed a long time on the same branch, and I think it was waiting for it's parents to bring food, but the parents never came, and hours later it was still there. I watched from my balcony with my binoculars, and understood that the parents had left it to fend for itself. After fledglings are two months old, the parents do leave them, but the forest floor is littered with acorns, so there is plenty of food available for Jays to enjoy, as it is their favourite food.
There is the fledgling.
I enlarged the photo as much as I could.
Here is another young bird.
Now some closer images.
The last photo, but I have many more to share with you on another day of the lovely Jay, Garrulus glandarius

Hello Sonjia,
Your photos of the Jays are so beautiful. I have them here too, but I have never seen a young Jay. It is so cute and lovely.
Hugs, Marit
After waiting for a long time, I hope the young bird will start to learn to find food for itself. Beautiful bird.
Hello,
Your Jay is beautiful, wonderful series of photos.
I hope it is finding lots of food. Take care, enjoy your day!
They are very beautiful birds, Sonjia, and to be able to enjoy them at close hand is an experience not soon forgotten. We are all glad that you had your camera ready. Big hugs from Ontario. David
your blog is so aptly named, these babies are breathtaking to me.. they are so cute and adorable.. you certainly live in bird paradise
These are beautiful photos of Jays, Sonjia. It is a bird that is intelligent and spectacular, and that I am very fond of. I do not see Jays very often and it is a rare visitor to our garden, so this post from you has been a real treat for me - thank you!
Best wishes - stay safe - - - Richard
Hi Breathtaking, I enjoyed scrolling through your photos of the Jays. You did a wonderful job of getting the focus just perfect so that the enlargements are like looking through binoculars. Nice work! These Jays are pretty birds! Thank you for sharing! John
Hello Sonjia. This is something of a "Jay Winter" even here in Lancashire. jays are not commonplace and certainly not in our garden but this year we have a couple of very shy ones. It seems that there is a shortage of acorns elsewhere causing some Jays to wander further afield. But these new ones are always shy and do not let me take photos as good as your own.
Hi Sonjia,
Thank you for your comment. We are fine, thank you. We have an 11 week old Labrador keeping us very occupied, hence the lack of posts!!
We have a few Jays here making a lot of noise in our Oak trees. They almost sound like parrots! They are beautiful birds, but I never manage to get very close to them.
The jays are very lovely, and quite different from ours.
Awesome photos. Jay is a wise, beautiful bird.
Wonderful photos..I had to feel sorry for the fledgling. It looked so forlorn...
Happy Halloween..Enjoy your weekend..

Thanks for linking in this week.
Lovely series on the Jays, and you well zoomed on the birds! Glad jays have plenty of food under their foot itself, and I wonder it's the jays that turn blue jays later?
Enjoy the birding and have a nice day :)
Well done! The closer these birds get the more beautiful they look. :)
Stunning photos of the birds. Great close-ups. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day and new week.
Fabulous Jays, fledgling to adult, well caught Sonjia.
You took great photos of the Jays. It's good that the young bird finds plenty of acorns on the ground and doesn't have to starve!
All the best from Austria,
Traude
