Inauguration

A pair of Blackcaps have taken up residence in my garden, both the female

and male are very possessive of this new feeder.

especially the female, who is most confrontational with any bird who comes near.

There have been a few altercations between the Blackcaps and The Great tits.

My daughter Eva gave me this new feeder at Christmas, and I love it but couldn't find a place near enough to the house to hang it, so that I could take photos through the window. In the end I hung it near our fish pond,...where I could still see it, albeit a little far away, and here are some of the captures I took this week.

One Coal Tit with the Great Tit, who seems to be checking out the other birds!:)

The Blue Tits just wait patiently until the Blackcaps move away, but they don't linger.

There are a pair of Great Tits also in the garden, and I'm hoping to get a shot of them both together one day

The Coal Tits are often chased away by the Blackcap female, who hides in the vines overhead.

The Crested Tits were the first birds to inspect the new feeder.

Besides the birds shared here, the Robins and a Long-tailed Tit and Greenfinches have paid visits to the feeder.

Some beautiful little birds you have there. We don't get many brightly coloured little birds here. In our yard we mostly get Sparrows, Blackbirds, Starlings & Wattle Birds. We had a few colourful Parrots in our Bottle Brush tree a few times a few weeks ago so I managed to get a couple of photos. Haven't seen them again since. We do get Galahs, Ravens, Magpies, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Black Cockatoos, Kookaburras & Seagulls as fly overs but they never land in our yard.

Special moments captured at your new feeder make for a near perfect week.
Good luck with getting a photo of the pairs too!
What a beautiful feeder - it looks like bronze and merges with the background so well.
Thank you for visiting my post too!

Blogoratti,

Hello, I have tried to make a comment once again on your blog but the screen image stops, and the mouse,.. not even escape works, so I have to turn off my computer to start again. I enjoy reading, so this a shame.I left you a message on another of my posts in the hope that at some stage you might read it. I beleave you were reading The Good Earth at the time, a book I read when a teenager, which recently I re-read with different mature eyes, Pearl Buck opened them to a culture I knew very little about, and I enjoyed it much better the second time.
Hope you see this!):)

Pretty feeder in design of birds perching and I liked the way coal tit watching other birds... very beautiful series on little birds. I too have a feeder, but haven’t filled anything. Hope at least this summer I make some arrangement for birds to visit and make a birdbath.

very nice feeder you have. Looks great on the bush.
And you have all my favorite birds. Nice to there are some. Where I live it was a bad breathing season last summer so the forest is more or less empty :(

The new feeder has worked very well. And fancy having Crested Tits on a garden feeder. It only happens way up in Scotland here as there are no cresties south of the border.
