JAY ON A WINDY DAY.

The stormy weather continues, another tree is down,  the wind is ferocious and the rain torrencial. The food I put out for the birds is soon covered with rain water. I only use shallow plates and although I place them as near as I can to the wall, and even though my balcony is covered, in this kind of weather nothing can be done to prevent the rain from inundating the balcony floor and everything on it, which includes plants that don't need so much watering. The squirrels don't appear in these weather conditions, but the Jays arrive in any kind of weather, and here are a few photos of them on the tree nearest to my balcony.

Dear Sonjia :)
Your pictures of the Jays are so beautiful! You are lucky to have it visit, because it is not here anymore. It is a very nice bird, and the blue edge on the wing is lucky pretty.

All the best to you, and I wish you a great weekend my friend.

Many warm hugs.
Marit

so sorry to hear this and the jays are just beautiful. their coloring is so different than our jays, and they are softer looking than ours.. so hard for the birds and critters during bad weather of any kind

Dear Sonjia,
What a great series of photos of this jay.
Too bad it's raining so much where you are, it's been dry here for weeks and also much too warm for the time of year.
I wish you a good weekend.
Greetings Irma

I don’t know whether you can hear the fanfare, Sonjia, but I have summoned the band of the Gallery of Photographic Superiority to welcome this marvellous addition to the exhibits in the Grand Hall of Special Merit. What a wonderful series of pictures! Eurasian Jay is reputed to be shy and adept at frustrating photographers, but here you have an intimate series second to none. You are without a doubt a Jay Whisperer. If this is what torrential downpours bring please beg for more rain. Who knows what may happen next? Hugs and kisses - David

...Sonjia, I'm sorry to hear about your torrential rain. Rain can to a blessing, but too much certainly isn't. This Jay was a welcomed visitor I'm sure. Our hungry squirrels are out in kinds of weather. Take care and be well.

Wonderful captures! I can see the disheveling of the bird's tiny tufted feathers occasionally as it stays strong against the wind.

we have trouble feeding our birds at times, times when they really need it, and it is frustrating. it has been very winding here too, we get downpours of rain and then nothing for long periods. your jay is sooooo pretty, so much feather detail, it looks as if it has found a comfy spot!!
