A FINE DAY OUT:

It has been raining every day with the exception of last Thursday which was a warm and sunny day. Eva phoned in the morning and suggested we went out for lunch, and visit the place where we had seen a few deer. I was eager to return to see if there were more there, and the thought of eating out was very appealing, so within a half hour we were ready and set off for our deer destination. When we arrived we were both disappointed that even though there were more deer, they were far away and spread out over a large area which made taking photos difficult, and we were also shooting into the sun. Some of the does which looked little more than fawns were pregnant with rounded bellies and to me looked far too young to be expectant.

Needless to say I was thrilled to be watching and photographing the Fallow Deer.

Goodbye deer, now on to lunch

Shaded part of pátio and ice cream counter. It was early for lunch, we were the first customers. The restaurant is situated in a forested area, ideal for nature walks.

We sat in the sun, and whilst we ordered and waited for lunch, ordered drinks .

Restaurant window

We were surrounded by beautiful plants and on one side huge boulders.

On the other side of the pateou was the entrance to the hiking trail.

A closer shot.

We were surrounded by these pretty plants, Vinca I think.

Whilst we were enjoying lunch we could hear the familiar noise of a chainsaw, so we decided to go for a walk after we had finished eating our delicious lunch, finishing with two large slices of coconut cake, We finished drinking our wine and had a coffee which was excellent then went in search of the noise we had heard..

We followed the direction of the chainsaw noise and soon saw the men cutting the huge tree trunk.

We were told that the tree had fallen during the stormy weather.

We watched for a while and saw the second portion sawed through. It took the man a long time to reach the bottom of the tree trunk, I kept wishing that the man on the right would move his hand away!

At four pm we had to go to the clinic for another change of dressing and afterwards the nurse said it would be the last time as the open wound had finally closed, and all I had to do was put Betadine antiseptic lotion morning and night for a week and then some cream to moisturise the skin. Hurray!

BIRDS AND PLANTS.

Another week has gone by and I seem to have done quite a lot of things that I had been putting off for ages. I did some sewing, and pruned  some plants, and although I have not finished yet, at least I made a start. I went to see how the men were doing pruning the old chestnut trees and they have almost finished but when Will did not appear up here I was afraid that Will had  been frightened and flown away, since he made his home in one of the many holes in those trees. How relieved I was to see him this morning, if only a fleeting view- :) I'm still going to the clinic every three days to have a change of dressing on the suborn scar which is not healing well, but afterwards Eva and I enjoy having tea in town and depending on her work load Sara my granddaughter joins us. She was 36 last Saturday and a good time was had by all the family. Every Saturday lunch and tea are at my house and all the family convene here. I'm always busy and that is why I rarely make visits until I'm free on Sunday.

This is the only photo I managed to take but a reassuring one and I sighed with relief.

In compensation I got a very good view of a Eurasian Jay.

I was sorry I didn't have time to get the whole bird in the frame. Minus the tail the Jay loses a lot of his elegance.

Looking out of the other window in my bedroom I saw a small clump of moss growing on the roof tiles.and thought how pretty it looked, although it will have to be removed along with some ferns.

Not like my esteemed Hoya plant which I have staked to two very tall canes, and it is now 90 cm

From base of plant to top.

Crudely tied to the canes, it stands tall, and perhaps will grow taller in spring.

You can check with the first photo that this is the top of the plant

Being optimistic there is still another meter of cane left. :)

These grey and rainy days  have carried on for weeks, so it's nice to see some colour in the garden

Also in my extended garden the red cedars look great amongst the greenery.
especially when the sun comes out they seem to glow in sun light.

Although the grey clouds dominate the sky and cast ominous shadows everywhere we have had some lovely sunsets, but now as I write, I can hear the rain outside coming down in torrents and it's so dark there will be no visible sunset this evening.
