THE RIDING SCHOOL 2023

In late August on a Monday morning my daughter Eva, and my grandson, and I went for a drive to discover where a new riding school is situated higher up the mountain. We eventually found it, tucked away in a narrow lane with a huge entrance gate. Here are a few photos taken by myself but mainly by Pedro. We were told that equestrian events are held at the weekends, so Eva and I agreed to return to watch the competitions, and see the horses being put through their paces which we still haven't done yet, but will now I have more free time. We walked around and took quite a few photos. and on the whole we were suitably impressed with the installation, and as I love horses it was a treat to see them looking so well cared for. It is still pouring down with rain here, so no chance of recent photos, but I still have a few in the archives.

Approaching the Riding School.

The young girl had a few treats in her hand which she shared with the horses.

They then followed her back to the stables.

Beautiful all white horse.

There were more beauties in their stalls

I watched a tender moment when the stallion walked towards the pregnant mare and they caressed each other for quite some time.

Ready for a wash and brush up.

We did take some more photos but they didn't turn out very well, so one weekend when we return I will share some more. Although my blog is primarily a nature blog, on occasion I do share something about Portugal and it's traditions, and other things that may be of interest. I hope you have enjoyed my visit to the Riding School That's all for now, take care everyone.

Hello dear Sonjia :)

It looks like a very nice riding school. The horses looks very beautiful and healthy.
I have seen some riding schools, but I have never seen anyone who looks so proper like the one you show today.

Have a nice evening. All the best to you, and many hugs.

I don't know much about horses, Sonjia, but consider them to be magnificent and intelligent creatures. The ones you show here seem to be very well cared for. I hope that your weather improves soon and allows you to make another visit to see them in action.

My very best wishes - - - Richard

Hello, Sonjia: How lovely to be able to spend time with Eva and Pedro - and then to have these magnificent horses to round out the experience is quite wonderful. What glorious, graceful creatures they are, and think how much service they have rendered to humankind throughout history. We have not always treated them well, unfortunately, and have dragged them off to war to be slaughtered alongside us, although they were innocent bystanders to the whole conflict. Perhaps so the weather will improve soon and you’ll be able to make a return visit. I will look forward to reading about it. Hugs - David

I'm quite in awe of horses. I've ridden twice (and that was enough for me!) Being on one makes me nervous. But being beside one is a treat. They're such majestic beasts. So I really loved seeing this post.It sounds like a great day.

Hello Sonija 😊
Several years ago I had a little summer cabin in the state of Montana. I would call it “horse country.” Neighbors had 20-acre lots with room to keep horses. A neighbor with horses became a good friend and I learned a lot about those amazing animals. Your photos are so interesting. I wonder if Eva is going to attend Riding School? She sure looks like she knows how to get along with horses. I especially appreciated what you said, “Although my blog is primarily a nature blog, on occasion I do share something about Portugal and it's traditions, and other things that may be of interest.” I feel the same way about my blog with a primary focus on nature, but it’s also fun to include other interests. Share all you like … I enjoy it all. 😊 Wishing you a happy week ahead and sending best regards from Seattle. John

Thanks for sharing the experience. I have not been around a horse since I was a young child and the family would go out on the weekend to ride. Memories.

...Sonjia, this is a gorgeous farm with gorgeous horses. The white is my favorite, I rarely see this bred. Is it a Lipizzan? Take care and be well in your new week.

Dear Sonjia,
this looks like a very nice riding school - and I'm always happy when you notice that the animals are treated well. I would have liked to accompany you there, I'm always happy when I see critters - and these horses are really beautiful :-D The moment when the stallion approaches the pregnant mare so lovingly and they caress each other is particularly touching.
What you wrote in your comment about your weather sounds much less pleasant - storms, floods, hail, power outages - that's not pleasant at all. I really hope that the weather will be better again soon, so that you can go outside and perhaps visit the horses again. (Here ist is rainy and widy, too, but not THAT bad!)
All the best and a cozy November weekend!

PS: You weren't entirely wrong when you thought about what happens when one runs out of money in an expensive retirement home. But there are also good state homes in Austria that are supported by the state depending on the person's financial situation. I think you can switch there from a private home if necessary. My mother lived in an apartment in such a state home for a year, and it was really nice there, with good creativity, excursions and entertainment programs for the residents - then unfortunately she had to move to the nursing ward. (She lived there for another 7 years, and luckily she was in good hands there too. Only the last time with the Covid lockdowns and visitor restrictions was terrible for her and for all of us...)

What great looking horses. We have a long running (and deeply silly) joke about horses in our house!

It started when my daughter found a business card in NZ that simply said "horse" and it has gone on from there!

Bela postagem. Obrigado.
