Filip Demuinck Yes she is beautiful showing her underwings with the very distinctive pattern, but just as beautiful when she opens her wings and displays her orange and black spotted upper wings.Thankyou for your comment.
What an absolute beauty and so beautifully photographed. It certainly deserves its majestic name! It is a rare migrant to our country but I have never seen one and don't expect to.
We have had some unusually warm and sunny weather here which is bringing our butterflies out. Having said that, it seems it is unfortunately set to turn much cooler and duller now.
ShySongbird Hello again, and thank you.Of all the Fritillary butterflies this is undoubtably one of my favourites. The upper and under wings are so different in design and colour and yet so very lovely.
Our weather has also been unusually hot for this time of year, but much needed rain is forecast for the weekend.Hope you have a good one,and thankyou so much for your visit.
