SQUIRRELS

I'm on my second tub of mealworms but the only birds that eat them are the Coal-tits. The strange thing is that on the tub lable there is a picture of the creatures that do eat them, fish, lizards, hedgehogs, squirrels, mice, turtles, tortoise. and what looks like a parrot, and an exotic bird, but "my birds" such as the Great-tit and the robin ignore them to my disapointment, because I know how benificial the meal worms would be to their diet. The squirrels devour them, they can't get enough of this high protein food. Here are a few  different squirrels taken on different days when they arrive on my balcony they head streight for the mealworms, and then the peanuts.

Saw me here. :)

Dear Sonjia :)
There are some amazing photographs you have taken of the squirrels. The squirrels are so beautiful.
Mealworms are a popular food here too.

Warm hugs to you dear friend.

I love its little claws!
I found the same thing here. The birds weren't much interested.

Hello dear Sonjia,
What amazing photos of the squirrels.
I love squirrels, I can only photograph them when we are on vacation, unfortunately, they don't occur where I live.
I wish you a wonderful weekend.
All the best, Irma

Every time I have fed the birds mealworms, Sonjia, the squirrels have eaten most of them. Their appetite is insatiable it seems. I hadn’t realized the birds were quite so selective. Here, whenever they can dart in between the squirrels, there seems to be no species immune to the juicy protein on offer. Sometimes a few crows will come down and they can muscle in among the squirrels quite successfully. Their sharp, strong bills can deliver a punishing blow and the squirrels know that. Such drama going on outside the window! Hugs and kisses - David
