It has been pouring down with really heavy rainfall every day for several weeks so I have been unable to go outside. Floods destroyed a lot of property, especially in the south of Portugal and some in the north but as I live high up in the mountains I am safe from any damage These Jay photos were taken in July when Pedro was here, it's unfortunate that the tail isn't visible, but there was a stone wall just below where the Jay was perched on the branch, obstructing the view of the tail. I took so many photos that I will share half now, and at a later date share the other half.
I will be linking up to Wild Bird Wednesday, and Eileen's blog Saturday's Critters

Great photos. One day I should try to take photos of this magnificent bird myself.
Glad you're safe from the floods! These Jay photos are wonderful.
Dear Sonjia,
What a wonderful series of photos you've taken of the Jay.
The Jay is a very shy bird, but luckily for you, it stayed put for a while so you could photograph it.
I'm so sorry about the flooding, nature is completely out of whack.
You hear and see that it's raining heavily everywhere.
I wish you a wonderful weekend.
Greetings Irma

..Sonjia, it wonderful to hear you are high, dry and well. I hope that you stay that way. We have a several blue jays and titmouse that come to my peanut feeder, they can empty it each day. Take care and stay well.
The news reported on the disaster, the extent of the flooding... we sympathise with those affected.
It's good that you find distraction in nature photography. The pictures are beautiful.
Hello Sonjia,
The Eurasian Jay is one of my favorites, I wish I could see one here. Your photos are beautiful. I am sorry to hear about the flooding, sad about the destruction! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Dear Sonjia :)
I'm glad you are safe from the floods. This "new" weather it's not nice at all.
For the first time on many years we don't have snow at all.
Your photos of the Eurasian Jay are wonderful. It's a beautiful bird, and I love the blue feathers. For many years it was here too during the winter, but I have not seen it the past two years.
I hope you have got your microwave!
I send you many warm hugs my friend!
Marit
They are a favourite! These photos are so beautiful.
Sorry to hear about the flooding, and I hope the people did get the needed help timely.
He is so precious, I just love his little claws. He is one handsome bird.
Such a handsome bird. I'm glad that you are safe from the flooding, Sonjia.
Gorgeous and delightful captures of these sweet, lovely little birds 🐤 🐦 🐦⬛ 💕
With or without a view of the tail, Sonjia, these are fine pictures depicting a beautiful bird. As you show here it is not always as shy as sometimes portrayed in field guides. Doubtless it knows it is coming to visit the Countess of Good Taste and Avian Appreciation so it is sure to look its best. The flood damage is awful. Thank goodness you were not in danger of this catastrophic event. Stay well, stay dry, drink wine, eat well. Hugs and kisses - David
Beautiful blog
Please read my post
What a beautiful jay!
It's incredible how much water there was. I saw it on the news.
Dear Sonjia,
What a wonderful series of photos !
The Jay is a very shy bird, at least here, but you managed very well. And it is a very beautiful bird too. It sometimes visit my bird feeding during winter time.
it's raining heavily here as well.
I wish you a wonderful weekend.
Greetings Lasse
just know about Eurasian Jay..... beautiful bird.
Excellent captures.
It is the first time I’ve noticed the markings on its head. Such a beauty!
Dear Sonjia, your winged garden visitor looks very smart – and it was so kind of him to pose so calmly for you! I think the jay WANTED to be a star on your blog 😊
I'm glad you live in the mountains and are therefore safe from flood damage. As you know, we recently had our own experience with flooding, and I think people who live in such regions have a heavy burden to bear. Let's hope the effects aren't too tragic here or there!
All the best and a wonderful Advent season 🕯️✨❣️, Traude

Gorgeous photos! The Jay’s colors and markings are just amazing. So glad you’re safe from the heavy rains and flooding.
Querida Sonjia, você tirou fotos lindas do gaio. Os toques de azul vibrante são especialmente encantadores.
Também temos essas aves na minha região, e agora, no inverno, elas chegam bem perto do comedouro no jardim.
Desejo a você um feliz Advento.
Hug Viola
Te quedaron preciosas, me gustan mucho. Besos.

Doesn't this bird have lovely markings and colours.
All the best Jan
Great clicks 👌
Sonjia I did not know about the flooding , i'm glad you are safe and hope things have improved for the lower parts of your country by now. The Jay is n elegant bird (even without the tail ;>). I have been absent from blogging for such a long time -- we nearly lost our whole blog when our provider went out of business, but I'm back now at a new address. Slowly starting in again. The new blog at WordPress is here: https://fulltimelife.blog/
That bird is really beautiful! Congrats for those beautiful photos!

I'm so glad you're safe high up in the mountains, though it's heartbreaking to hear about the flooding elsewhere. These Jay photos are a lovely reminder of summer; even without the tail, that striking blue on their wings is just stunning.
A sweet bird. I can tell he is a deep thinker. Happy holidays,
Amalia
