AFTER THE RAIN and MORE BALCONY BIRDS 2023

It rained in the night, so I went out in the garden this morning to see if I could find anything of interest, as I didn't have much to share, so here are the photos I took. Some wonderful surprises as well.

A very large Camellia tree

A closer look at the Camellias.

Under cover Mushrooms.

I never noticed these spiders webs when they were dry.

A lot of my shrubs are covered with these small tightly woven webs.

Ivy, birds love their berries.

Bright red berries yet to flower.

A leaf enclosed in a mushroom.

Azalea flower.

When I first looked at these mushrooms, I thought they were leaves.

More mushrooms.

Another  Azalea.

Leaves still hanging on.

Azalea coming into bud.

Another Mushroom.

I'm sharing another flower like the one above, because they are so pretty.

Raindrops on Cacti.

Another Azalea in bud.

Trees in mist.

Raindrops on Cacti.

Back on my balcony I captures two Blue-tits and a Great-tit.

The Firecrest returned.

Not a very good photo, but it took me by surprise, and I was lucky to get this image.

I am overjoyed that it came to the feeder again.

A lovely stray cat with a luscious black tail and attractive markings.

These sightings were another surprise, both images taken from my balcony.

First flower on Jade Plant.

Beautiful photos from your garden, Sonjia. My favourite is the tree with the leaves still hanging on, closely followed by the two of the flower covered in raindrops.

Your images of the Firecrest have turned me green with envy.

My very best wishes - stay safe - - - Richard

Dear Sonjia :)

As always very beautiful photos. As you know by now, you know I love Camellia. I'm green with envy when I see how big they are when they grow in your climate. They are huge!
The Blue Tits are so beautifully captured. They are my favorite bird here in my garden. I think the green cactus is called Aeonium. Beautiful azaleas too.
Take care my dear friend!
Many warm hugs,
Marit

beauitiful cat with the black marking on the nose. i like that tree with the leaves hanging on, it looks like a child took paper leaves and stuck them on hither and thither. love ALL the rain drops. we need them so bad..favorite is the toadstool with rain in it like a tiny bird bath. and never have i seen a toadstool eating a leaf. odd and i like it. you found a lot to show us outside your home

I love how you captured the raindrops on the leaves, petals and webs. So beautiful! Raindrops are not often the subject of a photographic study.

Good morning, Sonjia: Your prowess with a camera is once again on display here, with a captivating set of images. You are a curious naturalist, and curious naturalists discover joys that others pass by. Who can deny the pleasure derived from a damp spider’s web glistening in the sunlight of early morning? The natural world contains more wonders, more delight, more mystery than all the shopping malls in all the world. A stroll in the garden reveals so much. Thank you for sharing the wonder with us. With my very best wishes - David

You could fill an album with views from your balcony. Our rhododendron is forming buds, but many will freeze off if the winter is as harsh as predicted.

A wonderful variety of photos. I love seeing the raindrops on the flowers, it adds its own beauty to the subject. The birds are beautiful and it's great that they love your space on the balcony. The cat is cute, love the markings on her. A total black and white cat. :) Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend.

I am beginning to recognize some of your birds on sight! It looks as though you get a lot of rain there. We have some blogger friends who moved there in the past year and chronicled what it took to not only find housing, banks but also the steps they had to take to get their dog over there. It was all very interesting.

The photo of the leaves still hanging on is my favorite. It looks like you somehow added the red leaves on the bare tree! Love little water droplets on everything!

Your garden looks so lovely and you have taken some really interesting pictures. I am so jealous that you still have plants in flower, despite the rain. We had a spell of really cold weather last week, with the temperature not rising above freezing some days. Then on Friday, it became milder and it has hardly stopped raining since! Everything here is quite dull. I think we only have one plant in flower - a Viburnum. Much of the ground is brown with fallen leaves, glued down by the rain!!
I hope you are a bit more mobile now.

such a nice variety of images today...as you said, the garden provided some very nice surprises. the fungi are fancy, so pretty, and so often overlooked. we as photographers see everything, we walk slow and are intentional!!

the camellia and azalea flowers are beautiful, so lovely to see!!

Dear Sonjia,
I read your pick for this Saturday Critters, but when I scrolled back to this post, I am in love with it. So many beautiful photos of nature. Love the ones with the rain. It must be so magical to wake up to a misty setting in your mornings. Anyway, it sounds magical to me. I want to thank you for always being a great blogging friend, and leaving me the most caring of comments. I wish you and yours all the best this holiday season. Take care.
