More Eurasian Jays

When the deciduous trees lose their leaves and become dormant, I have a greater opportunity of seeing the shy Eurasian Jay. This winter I have focused my attention  more on Jays than any other bird. These are a few of my photographs. No more words necessary.

What great pictures of the jay.
It's quite a shy photo, so the jay is perfectly photographed.
Greetings Irma

Dear Sonjia,

How beautiful it is, and wonderful photos!
Yes, they are very sky, and fly away very quickly. I see them here too, but not very often.

Warm hugs.

Absolutely no more words necessary, Sonjia! These images of the Jays are excellent, and stand on their own. I love the way that their intelligence seems to radiate from that wonderful face.

My very best wishes from England where it is still rather cold, and raining.

Take good care - - - Richard

You know, Sonjia, no words are necessary, but let me try a few - beautiful, intelligent, enigmatic, handsome, industrious, appealing, admired, cherished, bringer-of-joy, dedicated parent......and I think we have only scratched the surface. These pictures of yours are superb and they really convey the splendour if this wonderful bird. If anyone is contemplating a new book on corvids they should contact you for the images they need of Eurasian Jay. Your gallery is the only one they will need to look at. Hugs from Ontario - David

Hello Sonjia,
Your Jay is a beautiful bird, I loved all your photos.
It is nice he came and posed so beautifully.
I would love to see this bird in person, maybe some day.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend.

The photos really capture the look and mood of this bird. In my experience almost all jays are challenging to capture, except occasionally a few that hang around picnic grounds in wilderness areas and pick up bits of human food! The markings on the bird you photographed are neat.

I'm just amazed at the intricate colors of their wing feathers. I guess I am showing their Florida cousins today! Happy weekend!

Dear Sonjia,
Spectacular shots of one of my favourite birds which i see rarely. The weather here has been so wet.I have emptied my bird feeders and refilled them with fresh mixed seed and fat-balls so I am hoping for the best having had so few visitors recently. Why are they staying away?

Dear Sonija, You are so right … the photos speak for themselves. The Eurasian Jay is such an interesting, pretty bird. The distinctive blue patch on the wings fascinates me. Isn’t the artistry of nature amazing? Your captures are so nice and sharp. Thank you, Sonija, for sharing your wonderful photos and for your kind and thoughtful comments on my blog. Best regards to you from Seattle! John

For some reason, I just love this bird. It doesn't scream out, look at me, but it is still so quietly beautiful. Lovely photos.

This jay is so quietly beauriful. Love your photos.

Wonderful portraits! They capture both the beauty of this Jay and really it's personality (if birds can be said to have such). I can almost hear this bird as I scrolled through the pictures and definitely can imagine it's actions and habits.
