PET CLEAN

One day when my late husband was filling up the tank of his car, I was surprised  to see a dog cleaning station in a gas station, and I think it's a brilliant idea, especially if one happens to live by the seaside. So many people live in apartments who are the owners of large dogs, dogs that like to swim in the sea. Before returning home, the owners can just pull into the gas station where they are able to park their car, and give their dog a good scrub with the right temperature of water, wash them with shampoo, and then blow dry them. It is a great alternative to leaving them at a dog beauty parlour, which is not really required when all that is needed is a good wash and brush up to remove the sand, and it only takes a few minutes. I was impressed with this idea, and took some photos of  the station as I waited in the car. This is a little different, than my usual posts, but now and again I do like to share something about Portugal.

You can select the program you want, then elevate or lower the platform to whatever height you need, push the buttons for whatever else you require, and Hey Presto your dog is clean with the minimum of fuss. Are there any more dog washing stations out there?  I would be pleased to know, if you have seen them where you live, or have used them.

Cute , and it would seem clever dog washing himself/ herself. Ha ha!:=))

I think this dog was just cooling off.

He  looks a happy dog now.

I enjoyed watching the Golden Retriever doing what it does so well.

Enjoying the swim, and taking something back to his master.

I will be linking up to Saturday's Critters, on Eileen's blog, with my thanks to our gracious host. Just click on the left side of my blog on  "Saturday's Critters," and it will take you to her post, and  you can join the party.

Hello Sonjia :)

What a great idea! I'm sure the dogs enjoyed the wash. The dogs on your photos looks very happy :)

You know how much I love this post! The dogs all by themselves would make me happy but that wash place is absolutely the most fantastic idea I have ever heard of and I have never seen one here or heard of one anywhere else until today. I am so glad that you showed us this and this would be a fantastic idea for somebody to start a business doing this because there are so many people who don't have anywhere that they can wash their dog. I would love it because of the lift it's hard to watch him on the ground with old facts

What a good idea to put something like a dog wash at a gas station.
The photos of the dogs are beautiful, I love dogs, our last dog passed away almost three years ago, I still miss her.
Greetings Irma

It looks to be a great idea Sonjia. I wonder what dogs think of this facility, however? I find myself wondering how, for example, a five year old child would react if something similar was set up as a Child Washing Station. There's a thought - just off to patent the idea!!!!

Best wishes - stay safe - - - Richard

I think your dog washing station is a great idea Sonjia. I'm not sure it would work here in the UK where dog owners are notoriously difficult to accept new ideas, especially ones that expect them to clean up after their dogs!

Maybe some entrepreneurial Brit will now prove me wrong.

This is certainly something new to me, Sonjia, but it sounds like a good idea. Yesterday we went for a walk with Heather and Lily, and they brought their dog, Clementine, with them. By the end of the trail both Lily and Clementine would have been candidates for the dog wash and I am quite sure they would have been happy to get in there together! Someone is always trying to figure out a new way to make money, I suppose! Hugs from Ontario. David

Hello,

I think the pet cleaning station is a great idea. I wish they had one near me, for my grand-dogs. The dogs do love to swim in the water and to play fetch.
Cute doggie photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend.

Someone commented that dogs wouldn't like this idea. In my experience and observations, dogs always prefer to be in a dirt-covered and not-so-nice-smelling condition. Many owners don't let them choose this condition. So a drive-up dog-wash seems a very imaginative service to offer the owners of these lovable beasts! I hope they DO make money on the idea.

That is so neat for the dogs. At one of our trailheads there is a place to wash your bike and another to wash off and water your horses. I like the consideration for animals...oh and bikes! Hugs!

A brilliant idea. Have not seen it in my neck of the woods but this would make a great option, particularly at the beach. Reminds me a bit of a self-serve car wash but only for dogs. :)

What a wonderful service to offer dog owners. Makes cleaning your dog very easy. We don't have a service like that but we do have mobile vans that will come to your home and service your dog.

Yes, there is a dog wash in Front Royal (Virginia) that we used to use. Some years back there was one in another town too.

I like the pictures of dogs playing in the water.

That's an interesting concept, and I've never heard of such a station in my country. I'm wondering if it's a free or low-cost service. Nice shot of the station and the playful dogs in the water.
I hope you have a good week.

I agree with you. That is a great idea. Never seen any before. :)

I've never seen anything like that but it's a great idea! (Probably not so good for cats, though!)

The cleaning station does look pretty colorful. I've seen two self serve pet cleaning stations indoors, but I personally would rather hire a groomer. It would come in handy near the ocean though, but we are never near an ocean. My dog, Dustin, is not fond of water. When we hike by the lake, he ignores the water completely, no matter how hard I try to get him interested in it. Dogs are a lot of fun to watch playing in water, but if Dustin was off leash, he would keep following his nose until he was in the next town :)

I think the Pet Clean station is a wonderful idea! I did see one that is part of a car wash station in my son's neighborhood. I've also seen mobile dog wash vans that come to people's homes here and they wash their dogs in front of their houses for a fee.

This is a really fun and useful idea! I haven't seen that in Austria yet, but we don't have an ocean either. Do you think dogs like the cleansing bath as much as bathing in the sea? You brought cute animal photos with you. My brother has a labrador, Kira, she also loves to swim - in the sea or lake or pool :-))

It's a great idea; I haven't seen any such thing in our travels, but you are so right about dogs in apartments (and small homes like ours), people who own them would be very happy to have this option. I enjoyed your photo collection of happy dogs! they do love the beach and water.
