The Firecrest continues to visit my bedroom balcony. Here are a few captures of this charming little bird., which belongs to the kinglet family. It is one of the brightest, colourful European birds.
They eat small morsels, like spiders, moth eggs, and other insect food ...
but on my balcony they eat cake crumbs...
and finely chopped peanuts.
One day I hope to capture it on a fine sunny day, as all my photos have been taken on dull days, which really doesn't do it justice.
The robin also eats cake crumbs and finely chopped peanuts....
as does the field mouse.
Two captures of this little gem. I have just had the thought, that as the weather warms up and there are more insects available, perhaps I won't see it again....
but I hope that is not the case.

I love love love the mouse!!! the birds are beautiful and colorful the mouse is just toooo cute for words. love his litle hears. he must have heard the words "well let them eat cake" in this case, cake crumbs.
Hello Sonjia,
As always wonderful photos from your balcony. The robin is one if my favorite birds here. Your capture of the robin and the fieldmouse are so pretty. I have a lot of fieldmouse around here, and I think they are very sweet.
Have a nice evening!
Hugs from Marit
Hi Sonjia. It is a few years since I last saw a Firecrest, so I am very envious of you having one regularly visiting your balcony. I hope that it continues to grace you with its presence for a long while to come.
And, like you, I have just had another thought - I'm also envious of you having a bedroom balcony!!! ;-}
Best wishes - stay safe - - - Richard
You have given them a source of food Sonjia, they will be back. Take care,
Mike.
Those adorable birds won't get cake crumbs out in the forest! I'm sure they will continue to visit. I think your pictures are wonderful.
The photos of the Firecrest are great, you hardly ever see them here.
Where there is one mouse, there are often several.
Greetings Irma
Hello Sonjia,
Beautiful bird, I love the sweet Robin and Firecrest. The mouse is cute too.
Great photos. Take care, have a happy day!
Your balcony is like a little nature reserve, Sonjia. I expect that pretty soon the avian visitors will be preoccupied with breeding, and cake crumbs will not provide the nourishment the female will need to produce eggs. A little suet might be a better choice, although that may not be practical in your hot climate. Enjoy all the creatures that come to visit you. They are delightful. Hugs from Ontario, David
Lovely capture of the birds and the cute little field mouse! I think humans continue to influence the habits of birds and other animals by feeding them what we eat. We are sensitive when it comes to feeding animals and birds, and it is acceptable to feed those who have been domesticated or rely on human habitation for a living. Feeding wild animals or those in the forest, on the other hand, will disrupt their natural eating habits.
Just thought of sharing :)
Very pretty little creatures you have in your photos! Maybe the muted light actually creates nice images.

That's great! Your balcony is well visited by all kinds of wildlife!
It's nice that we have nature to entertain us...Enjoy
Your birds are so lovely! And that sweet mouse! (they're always sweet when they are not IN the house!) Lovely photos all, and thanks so much for your visit!
such a pretty little bird, you have some good pictures there. These little creatures must have to eat constantly to keep their energy levels up.
Preciosas tus fotografías, me encantaron todas. Besos.
These are so sweet!
Hello Sonjia,
You are lucky to see these sweet birds in your garden. The Firecrest and the Robin are both beautiful birds. The mouse is happy finding some food to eat. Wonderful photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
The birds are adorned in their Spring colors! And the little mouse is even cute. We love to feed the birds too. Enjoy your weekend!
All such cuties!
The Firecrest. I see rarely, especially here in Lancashire where our group have ringed just one in thirty odd years! I must invest in a packet of cake crumbs for the ringing station.
The little field mouse is beautiful, an animal I rarely see, as rare as a Firecrest - yes.
Enjoy your weekend Sonjia. And keep those pictures coming.
...field mice are fine, but when they become house mice, I have a problem! Thanks my friend.
Beautiful photos and critters. I love the little mouse eating some crumbs too.
Beautiful macro shots of our 'feathered friends' ~ Xo

The Firecrest is so sweet. I love the yellow stripe on top of his head. Such good pics of all the creatures on your balcony.
Hola Sonjia. Que maravillosos visitantes tiene tu jardín, los Reyezuelos son aves muy inquietas y es difícil fotografiarlas, el ratoncito también es precioso. Besos y abrazos.
The birds are truly wonderful but the little field mouse captured my heart!
Great pictures!
Love from Titti
Wonderful to have the cute birds and mouse as visitors. Have a great new week.
As always, extraordinary birds (and adorable mouse)!!

I love all your various critters. Except maybe the field mouse. When I find them in the garage I take my broom and sweep them out.
Such lovely little creatures! It's so nice to have them close enough to photograph.
You get such nice, delightful visitors on your balcony and in your garden - whether the photos were taken in sunshine or on a gray day doesn't matter - they just bring joy!
All the best,
Traude

All these photos are beautiful. It is interesting that you can watch beautiful birds from the balcony. Lovely birds!
wow, what a great view to see the Firecrest. Such a sweet little one. We have a kinglet but I see them maybe once a year. So, that´s not much. The robin is a sweet one too. I used to see them quite often ot not the last two years. :(
Thanks for sharing.
