THE END OF FEBRUARY IMAGES

Another week has gone by, and it's already the end of February. How many times have you heard the common phrase"Time Flies"?  Oh how true this is, as now my perception of time has speeded up to a degree that it's beyond my comprehension. I try to make each second count, but time eludes me. It's Wednesday, and once again  it's time for "Wild Bird Wednesday," a meme I really enjoy visiting. It's a chance to share some wild birds, and see others from around the world. This week I'm also including some photos I took of other creatures, and plants,...I usually do that anyway!:=)) Ha ha, I have just realised that I'm ahead of time, as it's only Tuesday!

Two captures of the Coal Tit. Normally it's the first bird to arrive on  my balcony in the morning, and the robin is the last to leave in the evening.

The Chaffinch.

The Geenfinch

The Red Squirrel on it's way to my balcony. He saw me, and stopped. Is it just me, or do I detect a "What shall I do now" expression!

The Rock-Bunting  Emberiza  cia.
An early morning visitor, picking up the newly sown grass seed.

Mimosa appears in February. It's bright yellow blooms illuminate the forest on the mountainside and pollinators love them, and so do I.

The Eurasian Jay.

A few more studies...

Of this shy and secretive bird

Which I am privileged to see on my balcony.

This sparkly iridescent beetle caught my attention.

A large Ocellated Lizard visited my bedroom balcony last week.

Although these images are out of focus and rather dark, I wanted to show you that the little Fire-crest came for something to eat.

I waited some considerable time to get a frontal view.

At last it turned, and I was able to capture a side view.

I took this photo last year, and am still confused as to why its feathers are of a different hue to it's usual grey and black colouring.

A tiny grasshopper.

On another occasion the Fire-crest appeared just as I was about to close the wooden shutters, so with poor light, but much excitement I captured it again, as it moved around between the plant pots.

The Greenfinch in bright sunlight.

A sleeping fox, that I photographed last year on the property. I took a different route which is hardly ever used, on my way to the pond,  I guess that the fox felt safe to take a nap in such a secluded area.

A rotund Robin Redbreast.

Getting a decent pose, is worth waiting for.

Hello Sonjia :)

Your photos are always so nice to look at. Gir nany years ago I worked in a flowershop. We sold cutted flowers, and I can still remember the sweet smell of mimosa. They are so lovely, and it must be wonderful to see them flower near by.

Hugs from Norway.

They are amazing critters. None of which I've seen. Thank you for sharing them!

Your photos are gorgeous, Sonjia, and some of them make me more than a little jealous - Red Squirrel, Rock Bunting, Jay, Ocellated Lizard, and Firecrest in particular!

I think that your 'grey' Coal Tit is probably a juvenile - it seems that all our UK tit species have a 'washed-out' colouration in their juvenile plumage.

I too find that time is passing at an ever-accellerating pace, and my biggest problem is finding the energy and favourable weather in the same quadrant when I have time on my hands!

Take good care and stay safe - - - Richard

This is a very fine series, Sonjia. I am quite sure that a whole career as a wildlife photographer awaits you! Firecrest is a bird that has managed to elude me, not matter how hard I have searched, and you have one coming to your feeders! There is no justice in this world! Hugs from a still snowy Ontario. Wonderful to be able to see all these lovely birds from your bedroom balcony. I think the Red Squirrel wasn't expecting to see you and it is wondering whether to proceed to your balcony where the food is or go elsewhere. Have a wonderful day.

Honestly, I wish I could spend a few days on your balcony ;>) ... you see the most wonderful birds right there out your window -- it's amazing. And then to stumble on a fox when you walk to your pond -- that is a miracle!!! Your pictures are wonderful -- brought many smiles. Thank you for sharing the joy!

The photo of the squirrel seems like a real achievement because it is still posing, very few times in my life have I seen a squirrel standing still xD

Hello Sonjia :-) Your photography is exceptionally wonderful. Love the pictures of birds with clarity that reveals every little feather. The macro of the beetle … wow! The Eurasian Jay … the little blue feathers … what an interesting bird. The mimosa is happening in Seattle too. I love your reflection regarding the expression on the Red Squirrel’s face. I see things like that on birds and other critters and always wonder if it’s just me or if there really is some communication there. The last picture of the Robin is just splendid. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you happy days ahead. John

Hola Sonjia. Muy buena colección de hermosas aves. Tus fotos preciosas.
Y que razón tienes el tiempo pasa demasiado deprisa. Abrazos y besos.

Hi Sonjia. It would seem that your balcony is a special place to be, for birds and cameras. A Rock Bunting in your garden is rather exciting and to me, surprising. Maybe that's because I have never seen the species in all my travels. The Coal Tit is still in juvenile plumage, the major giveaway is the yellow cheeks and dull overall colours. Have a good weekend.

Beautiful birds! In the US foxes are becoming less fearful of humans, and even live in some suburban neighborhoods where they boldly walk across the grass on the lawns, even sometimes in daytime.

You got lovely shots of the variety of birds you see around your place. A fox visiting your property is enough to prove the wealth of nature and the wilderness that surrounds you. I liked the details on the coal tit and the lizard. Keep enjoying and sharing the beauty around you.

That's a lot of wonderful animal photos! It's great what comes on your balcony! I find the jay, the squirrel, the fox and the ocellated lizard particularly exciting - such animals do not come to us in the garden. But even with the smaller birds, I rarely succeed in taking good photos because they fly away much too quickly. The other day I FINALLY saw a robin again, but I only got two very blurry pictures...
All the best from Austria,
