Your photos of the sparrow are both gorgeous and thoroughly captivating! I truly believe that these birds are often overlooked and underestimated. They are so beautiful and sweet, fascinating and intelligent. You captured the markings so well! Your post has brought me much joy, thank you so much for sharing. Sending you warm hugs and much love.

Beautiful photos of such a lovely little bird. Sparrows used to be so common here but now we don't see them at all. I do miss them.

Never get tired of watching the family interactions of House Sparrows. Great pictures.

These are probably the first birds I recognized as a small child. My grandmother called them "chippies" and fed them bread scraps. Right now the males have lost most of their black bibs, covered with fluffy gray winter feathers.

I do love House Sparrows. There used to be a lot of them in our garden when I was a child, but their number slowly declined. There are a lot more of them here in East Lothian, probably because so much wheat is grown here. They are once again the most numerous bird to visit our garden.

In England they look just the same but on the Algarve I have noticed that they are prepared to come closer to us when we are eating on the terraces at golf clubs for example. Have you observed that too?

Lovely shots of the sparrows. We used to get them by the dozen, but rarely see one now. I do miss them- such cheery, chirpy, cheeky fellows.

a nice couple. I actually like the female better then the male. If I translate our name for them it is "gray sparrow"

Len

They are opportunists, and have lost their fear of people. With so many tourists eating outside, they are bound to find crumbs and other scraps on the ground.

Hello Sonija. I must say that your House Sparrows appear much more approachable than our own. It is almost impossible to get a full frame picture like yours. Of course in the UK there is a long history of House Sparrows being persecuted (not now of course) which has found it's way into their fearful genes over many hundreds of years.
