Lovely insect shots as usual. Very bright and colourful.

I think you adopted the right approach with the Sparrowhawk. We catch a few each year in mist nets. We have to be careful near their talons. With such long legs they can reach out and grab unwary hands. They sink their talons in quite deep if allowed to. If there's another ringer they come in handy to carefully pull the talons out of the unsuspecting hand/fingers.

Its by sinking their talons in so deep that they are able kill their prey so quickly.

I noticed all the birds, bees, butterflies and moth, even the frog are similar in color to where they live. perfect camouflage by nature. the moth looks like part of the stick it is on.. your photos are so beautiful

Beautifully focussed photos. Pity you did not have your camera to capture the sparrowhawk peeking from under the blanket!

A marvelous series of nature photos. The bees, butterflies and other insects are exceptional, especially that first bee, Incredible! The Micro Moth, a master of camouflage. I didn't know that dragonflies snacked on beetles. Extraordinary catch with your camera. It is always fun to see how many kinds of dragonflies there are in the world, and also butterflies. The Marsh Frog is a very handsome frog, and the little Crested Tit is a darling bird. Your blackberries remind me of picking the wild ones from the hedgerows as a child. The chestnuts and the seed pods shots from the Judas Tree were lovely. And then there are your beautiful flowers. Thank you so much for linking with Today's Flowers. Can't tell you enough how much I appreciate that. A delightful post!

Len, I did have my camera close to hand, but taking a photo was not an option under the circumstances.

I saw Crested Tit in Huelva and was rather surprised as I think of them as a Scotttish bird. There are none south of the border or in Ireland.

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful series of photographs. I am especially fond of the frogs. I was also captivated by your bee species - very different from the ones I have here. I have never seen a carpenter bee before, nor the Bombus species that you shared. My blackberries are also ripening right now - I've been picking them daily to try to keep up, and freezing them for later jam making.

Wow, the details on your photos are so sharp! Love the frog, and your header my youngest grandchild would go gaga over! She just became four, and "bugs" is all she is interested in.
Regretfully, Portugal is one of the few countries in Europe I have not visited. (Am originally from Holland and moved 30+ years ago to study in the States.)
Have a lovely week and thank you for visiting me:)

Cute butterfly on the clothespin lol ... Nice green frog. The Crested Tit I've never had my lens unfortunately. Dragonflies, butterflies and flowers. Wonderful to see.
