Algarve and Horses, for Good Fences.

On our evening walks, we came across several horse farms, and stopped to watch and admire this small herd. There was no green grass for them to eat, but they seemed well cared for, not under weight, and had very shiny coats.

I have rarely seen horses on the Algarve at this time of the year. I have always assumed that it was too hot for them during the day. I suppose the owner lets them out to graze in the evening.

They are really lovely animals to watch. Sometimes, I wonder about some of the farm animals I see as we ride around, but, like you, notice they look cared for.

Greetings from the US. I am glad I came across your blog. You are a great nature photographer. I am like you, I am happiest when I am outside with my camera. I really enjoyed your photos of the butterflies. I think they are such amazing creatures. Have another great day memorializing nature's masterpiece. Christa

Thank you for visiting me!
Horses, these are beautiful but still is a difficult subject for me to paint:) Am confused (Maybe because the Google+ thing) are yo Dutch or not? Do you live in Portugal, or not?
Was reading in your side bar - you have a very good doctor! Have a similar problem, and I started walking again about a month ago!

Those are delightful images of the horses, Sonjia, but the real treat for me was seeing the Cattle Egrets with them. I've not seen one of these birds for a few years now!

Best wishes - - - Richard

Love the beautiful views of the horses...but I especially enjoyed seeing the countryside. It reminds me of somewhere I've been...though I can't exactly place where.

The horses look very healthy indeed and what splendid creatures they are. It's great to see the Cattle Egrets gleaning insects kicked up by the horses - a very tranquil scene to be sure.
