These juvenile Jays were about two and a half months old when they came to feed in my garden last year. The adult female lays 3-10 eggs, incubates alone during 16-19 days, then the chicks are fed by both parents. They fledge 19-23 days after hatching, and depend on their parents during 7-8 weeks before parents chase them away. The parents brought the juveniles to my garden, which enabled me to get these shots before they moved on.

Hello dear Sonija! What a beautiful jays!
I love the blues of the plumage and the blue reflection in the eye.
Enchanting! Good Sunday, hugs, Rita.
It's a beautiful bird. It visits my garden too. But never get the chance to photograph it so close-up like you did. My compliments.
Have a wonderful sunday.
The jays are very beautiful. Good catch!
Great to see those young jays!
They are extremely wild around here and don't ever come to my feeders! :(
Can't wait for spring now!
A great post, Sonjia!
Keep well!
Beautiful pictures of the bird.
I know this lovely bird. She often visits my garden.
Have a nice Sunday :)
oh, they are so cute! curious and slightly unaware of what to do. :)
Piękna:) U mnie też się pojawiły:)
Sonjia; these are incredibly sharp images; the detail is amazing; I picture myself getting one of these Sony's at some point and now more than ever because they've increased optical zoom ranges in the newer models which make them great for wildlife. I love the blues that Jays have but even more, their uninhibited and cunning character.
Qué maravilla!. Kisses from Venice
he looks like a very curious bird

Good morning Rita!:)
I also think that little touch of blue on the wings is most attractive, and ofcourse the blue eyes.I was thrilled to see the younsters, because it meant the adults felt my garden is a safe place to bring them.
Marijke Verdonk
Hello Marijke!:)
Well, I wouldn't be able to photograph them so closely if I didn't have a hide. It's the only way to get close-ups.
Enjoy your week!:)
Lasse
I am so pleased that every year these beautiful birds visit my garden.
Thank you for your, visit!:)

Good morning Eileen!:)
It has taken years for these birds to come to the feeders. We have lived for 50 years surrounded by woodlands, and it's only in the last half dozen years that they ventured into the garden and eventually to the feeders. I think their love of peanuts eventually won them over.:)
Ela
This is my husband's favourite bird. He fills the feeders with peanuts every evening, thinking of them!:)
TexWisGirl
That's it in a nutshell Theresa!:)
There is something so vulnerable about their expressions.
Karmnik54
They are beautiful birds. If The translation is correct, you also see them where you are, thats great!
Maria
Thank you Maria!:)They can be bullies with the other birds, and hog the feeders, but I forgive them because they are so beautiful.

Great shots of this pretty bird. Your lens through your skillful hands had captured every detail.
These are beautiful shots! I don't think I've ever seen a juvenile jay. The markings on the wing feathers is so interesting. Nice focus on the eye. Wow.

Sonia Aguiar
You are very welcome Sonia. The Jays love peanuts, and wallnuts, which i mix with bread, cake, and seeds.
vitorchuvashortstories
Hi Vitor!
Thank you Vitor!:)Watching and waiting is part of the fun.
There is one photo where a Jay looks angry, the others look slightly confused, and unsure of themselves. I felt sorry for them, as their parents left them in my garden to fend for themselves, and would not allow them back in the nest.
I will visit you soon. Enjoy your weekend!
Ana Minguez Corella
Thank you Ana!:) I was quite pleased with these shots.
Have a good weekend.
