Only have Eyes for you

The Peacock Butterfly
Nymphalis io (Nymphalidae)

The Peacock Butterfly basking in the sun on garden chair
Sun basking on warm surfaces is not unusual in many species of butterflies.
The eyespots and bright colours make the Peacock an unmistakable butterfly.

Beautiful photos of a lovely butterfly! The only ones I have seen here this year have been very worn, over-wintered individuals. Hopefully we will see some newly emerged ones towards the end of July, I do hope so! The weather here has been devastating for our wildlife this year :-(

Claudia
Thank you Claudia! Nice of you to say so!

Wow, how lucky you are having seen such a beautiful butterfly. I would be so delighted to see one in person. I'd say she has the most beautiful wings.
