The Peacock Butterfly Nymphalis io (Nymphalidae) |
The Peacock Butterfly basking in the sun on garden chair |
Sun basking on warm surfaces is not unusual in many species of butterflies. |
The eyespots and bright colours make the Peacock an unmistakable butterfly. |

Beautiful photos of a lovely butterfly! The only ones I have seen here this year have been very worn, over-wintered individuals. Hopefully we will see some newly emerged ones towards the end of July, I do hope so! The weather here has been devastating for our wildlife this year :-(

All great art is but a vision of creation,
Near to God and near to nature,

Thank you for leaving such a lovely
quote by M.K. Not one that I knew but it is very true.
Wow, how lucky you are having seen such a beautiful butterfly. I would be so delighted to see one in person. I'd say she has the most beautiful wings.
psychelyn
