PORTRAITS OF A WOODPECKER

All these photos were taken on the 1st of August. As I have had quite a busy social life lately I'm posting them now as I haven't had much time to take any recent photos. I hope you enjoy them as they are the last of my woodpecker photos for this year

Dear Sonjia,
What a fantastic series of photos of the woodpecker.
This is a difficult species to photograph, it's very shy.
You've done a great job photographing her, I think it's a female.
I can't see the back of the head, a red spot on the back of the head indicates it's a male.
Greetings Irma

Dear Sonjia:)

Your pictures of the woodpecker are very nice! It must be very fun to see them at your place so often. You are a good friend of the birds. I am sure they really appreciate your balcony.

A warm hug from your friend in the north who almost had frost last night.

A portrait never grows old, Sonjia, especially of a fellow as handsome as this one. You are very fortunate to have such an elegant Beau Brummell visit you on a regular basis. Hugs and kisses - David

A spotted woodpecker visited us again, pecking at an old electricity pole. But I didn't get a photo.
