All these shots were taken in June and July. I have just chosen a few, a mishmash of anything in my garden. Two shots are of the male juvenile woodpecker that came to my balcony on it's own.
As you can see there is very little green grass left after the blazing sun burnt most of it
I saw this lizard jump up and catch the damselfly in flight,
Buganvília
The Red Underwing Moth Catocala nupta
I saw this moth outside the kitchen door which is always in the shade. I had to lighten it a little, -
perhaps too much, as a lot of the detail has been lost.
Blue-tit
One morning I saw This Hoopoe on top of our lookout.
I will be linking up to "Wild Bird Wednesday" and "Saturday's Critters"

It is bad enough that we humans have to cope with the abominable heat that has become so frequent, Sonjia, but at least we have benefit of air conditioned homes, refrigerators to provide cold drinks, etc, but wildlife has far less ability to escape to cool refuges. And annual wildfires around the world are taking a terrible toll on so many creatures unable to escape these infernos. In this light, the birds and other creatures that you are able to enjoy at your home become ever more special. I am consoled that you are taking care of them and I know they will always receive a helping hand from you. In return, they bring you joy. Hugs and kisses - David
Dear Sonjia,
This is a beautiful series of photos.
Photos 1 and 3 are my favorites this time.
The last photo of the Hop is also beautiful, I have never seen this species in real life.
I wish you a wonderful week.
Greetings Irma
Dear Sonjia :)
Your pictures of the birds are so beautiful, that I am completely captivated by them. The blue tit is my favorite today. I love blue birds so much, and fortunately it is here too. The green lizard is also so nice, and you also have many beautiful flowers with you. The bogainvillea is very beautiful, but it does not survive here unfortunately.
I send you many warm hugs!
Marit
Some really pretty birds! What was the third one?
David, I do my best to help the birds by giving them refrigerated cold water every morning.
The third one Angie is the Eurasian Jay.
Absolutely stunning nature captures.
Great captures. The woodpeckers are a favourite of mine and you highlight them beautifully. I worry about the birds on this warming planet.
Beautiful pictures Sonjia..most of those birds are new to me.. Love the picture with the peanut! I hope you are having a wonderful week.
So pretty and such a good variety
Beautiful birds! The heat is hard on them, I think.
As always, gorgeous! That's a huge nut/seed in that fellow's mouth and a marvelous photo. You have the most delightful diversity of birds so near to you and clearly a great camera as well as a lot of trust here. ANd wonderful other creatures as well. Thank you so much for your visits! They are so appreciated.
What a great collection of pictures - Woodpeckers are some of my favourite birds (not that we have any in Australia!), so I'll just enjoy yours.

Incredible series of photos Sonjia. Thank you so much for sharing what you see. A lovely start to my day.
Dear Sonjia,
Thank you so much for your warm and caring comment on my last post before my blogging break. But of course I visit you on your blog before I fully disappear into my pause - here I am 😊!
I’m so glad you have the delightful company of the birds and other little visitors on your balcony and in dthe garden. I love all the birds an insects - and it's a great shot of the lizard with the damselfly! As David mentioned, it is something truly special these days for wildlife to feel safe and welcome right at your home. You not only offer them food and fresh water, but your flowers also provide the insects with precious nourishment in this hot season.
Sadly, my wishes for rain in Portugal didn’t seem to work this time… Here it has become hot again, but for you it’s even more so – and it looks as though it will last a while longer. I hope you (and your garden and all the Animals) manage to get through this heatwave as comfortably as possible.
Wishing you all the best and looking forward to reading each other again after my blogging break,
Traude 🌿

What absolutely beautiful photos, thank you for sharing them. I love seeing all the different creatures that visit your garden, especially the juvenile woodpecker, what a special visitor. The photo of the lizard catching the damselfly is incredible, you have such a good eye for capturing these moments. I'm so sorry to hear about your grass, but the buganvília is just stunning. It's so lovely that you share these special moments from your garden with us.
The colors on those birds! Amazing.

Hi, Sonja, I chose today to pop by a few old friend and glad I chose this post. awesome photos of birds and butterflies and I am in love with the lizard, they are amazing photos of it and would be beautiful as a set printed, framed and on my walls.. miss you lots.
It's nice to watch the birds' antics. I'd love to see that Hoopoe someday.
Son todas preciosas, me gustan mucho. Besos.
What lovely pictures Sonjia. Sorry, I missed that you had a new post a few days ago! Your garden is obviously a real haven for wildlife, which is a credit to you. I hope that you are a long way away from any wildfires and that you are surviving the extreme heat. We have been very lucky in Scotland. It has been sunny and quite dry, but not particularly hot, which I really appreciate.
Nice photos! Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful photographs, I enjoyed seeing them.
August is speeding by, I send lots of good wishes to you.
All the best Jan
