Sharing how difficult it is at times to spot birds in this kind of landscape. |
A Stonechat perched on top of the reeds. |
After a long dry summer, the water level was very low. |
I'm not sure about the ID of these birds , perhaps young flamingos, but they were surrounded by Grey Herons, which was puzzling! |
These are all views taken from a long way away. |
Spoonbill. |
Egrets |
I wish this shot had been a little nearer. I think it's either a Hawk or a Harrier, but I 'm not sure! |
Spoonbills and Herons. |
Cormorants were plentiful. |
Flamingos. |
We saw many Flamingos. All these shots were taken in December 2017. |

so much beauty out there, so many birds to watch.. these are all wonderful. my favorite is the 3 flamingos. they are just beautiful. i love the way the sun is painting the marshlands. nothing better than a walk in a bird preserve...
Todas preciosa. Los flamencos me encantan. Besitos.
Loved this hike. Thanks for taking me along.
Fantastic place, with all of them birds. Could that be an Osprey???
Hi. Fantastic photos. Amazing birds. Big thanks for your information.
Precioso lugar y preciosas fotos, es un lugar lleno de vida. Besos.
Awesome photos. Cormorants with electric wire. I have not seen before.
This post reinforces the value and the staggering richness of wetlands, to say nothing of their aesthetic qualities. You can visit the same wetland a thousand times, even a small one, and still tease out more secrets. To think that we have drained ninety-five per cent of the world’s wetlands is a sad testament to human stupidity and arrogance.
I love white birds
Hi Sonjia, Lovely place, I would be in my glory there. The shot of the bird carrying the fish is most certainly an osprey. Take care. Mike.
The bird carrying a fish is an Osprey. The white birds surrounded by Grey Herons are Spoonbills I think.
That looks like an interesting place to visit. I was wondering if that is an osprey with a fish. I see someone else has suggested that.
The terrain looks very familiar. We have the same birds here in Bangalore's many lakes.
Great shot of the flamingoes ! (Thank you for dropping by my blog).
I think it's an osprey too.Super shots.
Hello, wonderful collection of photos and beautiful birds. Could some of the White Birds be the Spoonbill? Enjoy your day!
Lovely birds, all of them!
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
Glad you were able to visit the wetland and get such beautiful pics of the birds. Nice that a few other bloggers were able to help you identify the birds.
A beautiful place to visit, Sonjia! It's wonderful that you have the opportunity to take a walk there !!!! Thank you for Sharing !!!
That so looks my sort of place. I wonder if your Ospreys migrate. On Menorca there is a non-migratory resident population of 5/7 pairs.
Lovely scenes from your hike! This place is a haven for the birds.
Well, those in question DO look like flamingos...their beaks are black-tipped.
GREAT images. As always Love the spoonbill in flight!
thanks for the anniversary wishes and sweet comments about us..

Lovely bird photos ~ favorite is the single little bird perched on a stem and the birds on the wires!
Happy Weekend to you,

You sure see a wonderful variety of big birds there! WOW! I love Spoonbills, don't you? Hugs!
i enjoy these natural environments for birding!!
how in the world do the birds perch on the grasses? the second to last image of the flamingo's, stunning!!
You are blessed to be so near such an exotic variety of birds - thanks for sharing!
Magnificent and beautiful images .. Well done .. Regards
So serene, tranquil and beautiful. Love the photos. Subjects & lighting are perfect.
For linking in at I'd Rather B Birding, all of us birders are very appreciative...thanks!nu
Good stuff Sonia, The birds you couldn't identify seem to be Egrets and Spoonbills among the herons and the bif shot is an Osprey. xx
Beautiful marshy scenery and beautiful birds! Love the Osprey carrying his fish! That Stonechat was so cool. Loved the whole post!
wow, so much beauty. Both landscape and birds. Agree when it coemd to small birds in this vegetation. Sometimes almost impossible to find them unless they sing or move. :)
Love the birds and the landscapes. I'm especially fond of the flamingos.
Like the others above - my first reaction to the bird with the fish was 'thats an osprey' - nice to with the consensus for a change!
What a great looking place.
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
A beautiful place to walk and so many wonderful birds can be seen. Beautiful everything shown in the pictures. Regards.
Our wetland is frozen over!
Beautiful landscape and wetland for birding, and you got really nice shots and the hawk seems to hold some fish/prey under its claw!
Fabulous photographs - my favourite is the flamingo's.
All the best Jan
AS always, I have enjoyed Sonjia's bird pageant - the fish carrying bird can only be an Osprey.....I humbly suggest.
Also,it was good to read the reactions to Susan Price's Nennius and to know that so many have condemned the dictionary police who want to diminish a child's vocabulary.
Bone-headed functionaries are everywhere feverishly auditing the costs of everything - with no understanding of their value. We must resist wherever possible.......Amen
