Wetland Views in Alvor.

On our daily excursions to the Wetlands of Alvor, we pass fields with horses, that seem to thrive in this wild environment. There are some small holdings, and a few houses which are usually well hidden behind tall trees and other vegetation, with only their roofs and chimneys on view. It's a quiet place with only the occasional walker or cyclist traveling these dirt roads, but whenever our paths cross, as fellow lovers of the outdoors, we say a friendly hello.  Sharing a few photos of the things we see as we make our way to the water.

The Zitting Cisticola

Although the Zitting Cisticola is not rare in the Algarve, it is uncommon in the north of Portugal, and absent from most of europe.

Do you see the tiny Cattle Egrets!

the perfect place to hike or wander or run or walk. so much beauty out there. I love number 8 photo of the horse and that sweet little bird is so cute. i would love to walk with or without camera on that road and see what you see. i like the house tucked back among the brush and would like to live in one like that

gorgeous landscapes, such pretty hoses basking in the sun!! the dark one is stunning!!

your bird captures are beautiful, so crisp and clear. i wonder why they always perch behind a branch. they always do that at my house when they are here. they bird on the wire was a favorite, with all those pretty wild grasses!!!

The horses are quite magnificent and thanks for a glimpse of this wetland which seems like “my kind of place.” I can see why you like to go there often.

Beautiful pictures! One thing I have learnt about wild horses is that before you go near them, you should take a deep breath and hold it. Hope these weren't that smelly..

You captured really wonderful photos from that region and I too love to take those back or mud roads! The wetlands seem to be dry this time and hope the horses and birds get enough forage.

Hello Sonjia. i must say that Alvor looks absolutly beautiful with those blue skies and all that peace and quiet. I am quite envious of your pictures of Cisticolas. We see then and hear every year in Menorca but all they ever do is dive into the grass and sedges and I've yet to photograph one. That looks very much like a Whinchat on the fence?
