The Grey Heron Ardea cinerrea |
I saw them with the binoculars, and it was one of those times when I wished I had a boat, and could get nearer to them. |
There were two Herons, and a few Cormorants. |
The Heron on the left was making it's way towards the one on the right side of the island. |
He stood up tall to check for the other heron which was half hidden by the grass. |
The other Heron was now keen to reveal himself`/ herself |
So he preceded to wade across. |
This is the heron on the right in the company of a few cormorants and a duck. |
Oh dear, is it really disinterest or just playing hard to get!:) |
Only a few seagulls here, and a heron.. |
Another cropped picture |
I enjoyed the day out with hubby, and will return to the estuary to check out more birds very soon. |

Good stuff again and I particularly like the male Blackcap from the other day, I love the liquid sound of his song in the spring. xx
Fantastic, the Herons in the Estuary, love it.
Beautiful pictures of birds, which I like very much. Regards.
Super shots of that Heron and it's "feathers"!!!...:)JP
Your photos are proof that herons are fun to watch and photograph. :)

A great series, Sonjia. It's always fun and interesting to watch the Herons in their habitat. Greetings from the Netherlands, Joke

Niestety jeszcze nie mam ich zdjęcia, ale mam nadzieję że niedługo się to zmieni:) Pozdrawiam:)
Birds of different kinds, they are all equally fascinating. It such a great opportunity to be able watch and observe them. I'm sure it's a very rewarding feeling.
How gorgeous! I love these birds, and they are so elusive. Thanks so much for sharing. :)
Always a good looking bird in any pose:) Looks lovely green!
So much activity and we think that they are just hanging out.
Hard to get may be, but not disinterested definitely.
Nice captures of the Herons. I've seen a few of them on ponds here and there as I've traveled home from work, but haven't had my camera with me, darn! Pretty area too- the tall grass, green stuff (don't know what it's called) and dark rock- pretty, pretty!
Oh my! Wonderful shots! So glad he posed in those grasses. They made a lovely background.
You've captured some amazing shots here. Well done.
Have a nice day.

Lovely captures of the herons! Enjoy your weekend.
SUPER excellent series!! Wow. And your commentary under each individual photo is exceptional...telling us who visit what you're seeing around the area. Lovin' It.
Thanks for sharing the link at I'd Rather B Birdin'. It's always much appreciated.
Beautiful shots!
Really nice action shots and commentary of the Grey Herons. I often can't win with herons, either they are too far away or just stand motionless for ages and then fly off.
the grey heron is the only heron we have in Sweden. You were able to comr rather slose and have great shots of it :)
Taking a peek at your historical posts, and was struck by the images in this one of the herons - beautiful! Thank you for sharing (and for dropping by my blog)
