Two of a Kind 2

The Magpie  Pica pica
One for sorrow, two for joy,
Three for a girl, four for a boy,
Five for silver,six for gold,
Seven for a secret not to be told. Eight for a wish, nine for a kiss,
Ten for a bird that's best to be miss.

I'm not suspicious, but was glad to see two Magpies high up in the tree tops, and not one!:)

The black and white colour pattern, and extreemly long tail, with a metallic sheen, unfortunately not seen in these poor images, make the Magpie unmistakable.

I like the rhyme! So, I'll probably be counting Magpies when I next time meet them ;)

I'm like you and not suspicious but always happier to see two rather than one Magpie. Nice pictures.

Far from being my favourite bird, and out of interest I was 2 years and 2 days when war broke out and a lady should never give her age away.

Sweet TWO Magpies♡♡♡ I love being able to see birds I won't have chance with poor national environment around my area. Oh, wonderful poem or riddle; as my parents and bro had gone, I hate being alone in my house when my husband is out, haha.

ps. not for the Pampas Grass but we have so MANY superstitions p:)

Beijinhos to you too from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

So you too have published magpie photos!!
It has been a while since I had the opportunity to take a few pics of these guys!
I prefer them to the crows invading our property!
Keep well!

I taught my kids that Magpie "poem" when we were in the UK - nice to see it elsewhere as well.

I love seeing photos of magpies as we don't have them in central Ontario. I don't know why as western Ontario does have them.

A lot of people dislike this magpie but I love it. My cats are scared for it. Lovely to see two at the same time.
Have a wonderful weekend Sonjia

What a cute poem stands by 1, 2, etc.
I had never heard before but I find it only to read in the pictures of the magpies.
