It's adorable and what good light and colour!

Wonderful captures of a colourful bird. Its rust-red blush on its chest and sides match that of the tree bark in the background. I wonder if this is part of the bird's innate camouflage tactics.

Marvelous pictures! Is he as garrulous as his name suggests?

Maria
Thank you Maria:)This is a juvenile Jay, quite small by Jay standards. As it was in dappled shade I did lighten and then added contrast to get more definition.

Thank you my friend:=)It does seem like good camouflage, so you could be right.

It is a juvenile Jay with very bright plumage.
Cheers Bob:)

S. Etole
Hi Susan:) They do vary in colour, according to the light. I believe our Jays are a lot diferent from the ones in the US.

Linda
Thank you Linda:) His squawking can be heard at a great distance. He's loud for sure, but I don't think he is more garrulous than other birds.

Joke (Jokes Camera)
Thank you Joke:) It's only since I started putting out food for them twenty yrs ago, that I have been able to get these shots from inside my hide.

I hope you are enjoying your garden, and that everything is blooming beautifully:)

My goodness is this fab, I have seen a Blue Jay but not this color before. Thanks for sharing something new to me.

Len said...

As said previously, quite different from the English variety. Ours are less coloured and seen rarely in my garden.Fortunately it is getting warmer so they may visit my bird feeders and bird baths.

The Summer shines(sweet shadow and sweet light...) in these pictures!

Warm hugs,Rita.

Barbara
Thank you Barbara:)The strange light contributed to the heightened colour of this Jay.
They do not usually have such a deep blush in strong sunlight.

Breathtaking said...

Len
Not all Jays are the same colour. Most are like you see in the UK. I will be posting more photos of Jays as I have taken dozens of photos of them this year.
