Vigilant

The  Crested Tit
Parus cristatus
Another picture of a bird on one of my peanut feeders I'm afraid. The feeders are in well lit areas of my garden and entice the birds out of the coniferous trees, where it is almost impossible for me to get a good shot. The Crested Tit is easily recognised by it's well visible crest, and it's black and white head markings in all sexes and ages alike.

It really is Stuart! when they first started to go to the feeders they were extreemly timid, but they have lost that inicial fear,
and I'm able to get quite close to them now.

Such detail. Do you get rats attracted by your bird feeder?

Thank you! We sometimes get field mice inside the seed boxes, if there is anything left in the evening.
Usually the feed boxes are empty
by the end of the day.

Have a nice weekend!

A lovely capture Sonjia, how wonderful to have these pretty little birds in your garden. Over here they are mainly confined to Scotland....I would love to see them :-)

It is bitterly cold here again and we have snow flurries today. I hope/expect it is much better where you are :-)

Thank you Jan! We are fortunate to see them in the garden all year round. The Tits never leave, and now I'm looking forward to seeing the juveniles at the feeders.

Surprisingly we had hail and thunder yesterday!! Today however it is a gloriously sunny day.Hope your weather improves also.

Yes the squirrel was in my garden but have to be a bit careful who knows as they are trying to get rid of the greys and bring back the reds

It is a lovely bird I enjoy seeing in the garden! The pinks and reds of the azalia and camelia are also a welcome sight.

What a delighfully perky and dynamic creature he is, - naturally and genuinely he is what all those sad males, with ridge-back hairdos attempt to emulate.

Breathtaking said...

Ian
It's also reminiscent of the huge quiff you and so many other young males used to wear back in the 50s!

I agree with you about the Crested Tit being a delightful little bird Ian:)

You created a paradise in your garden for the birds. nice picture

I think the birds are partial to my walnut and raisin cake, as well as the peanuts, and for that reason they return each day.I'm so pleased you like this photo, thank you so much.
Hugs.
