These photos are brilliant! What a lovely bird. It has such an interesting stripe pattern on its wings. Thank you for sharing these. It is fun to learn of other birds in different parts of the worlds.

Hello Nick!:) Although small by Jay standards, they do seem quite mature for this time of year, but they are this years juveniles for sure. Last month I saw two that were not quite so well developed, being brought to my garden by the adults.

Great shots. Here in the UK the Jay is very shy - tageted by shooters and gamekeepers. I could never hope to get so many pictures of one.

They are extreemly shy here also. Our property includes a vast area of forest land, and I can only capture Jays and Woodpeckers on camera if I'm sitting in my hide in our garden, which is surrounded on all sides by conifers.

Gunilla Bäck said...

Awesome captures! Jays are shy birds.

Makes me want to hop on a plane right now and sit in your garden! What a great species to have so close.
