Hello Nick!:) Although small by Jay standards, they do seem quite mature for this time of year, but they are this years juveniles for sure. Last month I saw two that were not quite so well developed, being brought to my garden by the adults.

Great shots. Here in the UK the Jay is very shy - tageted by shooters and gamekeepers. I could never hope to get so many pictures of one.

They are extreemly shy here also. Our property includes a vast area of forest land, and I can only capture Jays and Woodpeckers on camera if I'm sitting in my hide in our garden, which is surrounded on all sides by conifers.
