The Santo Inacio Zoo

We were having lunch with the family one Saturday, when my granddaughter Sara, told us about a zoo she had visited, and said that we should go there, as it was a great place to spend the day, and would only take an hour to get there. On her recommendation we decided to act on her suggestion, and I must say that we were impressed at the way the animals were cared for, and I will be sharing some photos of our visit over the next few weeks.

It took us I hour and 30 minutes on the highway to reach the Zoo,  and this is the entrance.

I sat on the bench, whilst Americo went inside....

this building, where he bought our entrance tickets, and on the right is where we started our walk around the zoo.

One of the hides where we were able to see the deer-like creatures below.

On a return visit, I'll be more careful to get their names, as I stupidly forgot to take pictures of them.

This creature and the next where taken in different areas of the zoo.

The environment  looked very natural,

Another view of a hide to get a better look at the fence.

This is where we had a delicious cooked meal.  We had intended to spend the day, but it was so hot, that we left after eating lunch, but we both agreed to make a return visit at a later date, and I shall look forward to it, besides,.. I want to get those names.

I am not a fan of zoos, but this looks like a beautiful, safe and natural setting for the lovely animals. More like a big nature park. Your photos are gorgeous, and the donkey is adorable. So happy to see healthy looking and happy animals. :)

Love the Black swan and the other critters. The zoo has beautiful nature for them to live in.

i always struggle with zoos. should i visit a place where animals are caged?? what i find when i go is that they are beautiful, well maintained, the animals are well fed and seem happy. that seems like the case here. zoos too are such a great place to see animals that we may otherwise not have the opportunity to see or photograph!!

all of your captures are really beautiful, i especially enjoyed seeing the black swans - a rarity for me!!!

The zoo appears to be well maintained with lots of space for the inmates but I am against caging animals. However many people cannot see animals in their natural environment so this Zoo seems to have found a happy medium. Beautiful photos.

I think somebody has stolen some of our swans!!

I wonder what the first Europeans in Australia thought of black swans?

Wonderful zoo -- the black swans are my favorite -- all your photos are so good. Isn't it absolutely the best thing in the world to learn new things from your grandchild! That happens to us often too.

Dearest Sonija; The Santo Inacio Zoo your granddaughter suggested to visit is really wonderful♪ Two deers are so different, I was surprised with the horns which is long as well as twisted :-)
We used to have black swans in our city park's lake; I miss them a lot. (swans were killed because of bird flu)
Oh, Greylag Goose is adorable; we can see ducks a lot but not geese(^^;)

Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in Portugal, xoxo Miyako*
