First part of The Toad In The Hole.

Hubby and I went to the park on a cold, dull and overcast day. The leaves were thick on the ground, and I nearly missed this little fellow,  but suddenly he moved as I was about to put my foot down just were he was, half hidden by the leaves. What a surprise, and good photo opportunity with my ever ready camera.

The Common Toad   Bufo bufo

He stayed very still, as I circled around him.

Warty little fellow.

Looking at me and thinking what the...!

I've had enough of this, I'm off!

Contemplating his next move...

On the move again.

Purposely walking towards....see the next post and find out!:)

The toad is so well camouflaged I'm not surprised you nearly stood on it. Good thing you had your camera at the ready - a good plan.

Dearest Sonija; I remember enjoyed watching and hearing their voices from rice paddies when young♬♬♬ I also remember interested in their unique eyes; if stared at with that read ones, might be a bit scary p:-)

When my granddaughter Alice, plays "the witch" .... says, with her little hand, with two fingers extended, and a deep voice .... "granny, I make you frog". Alice becomes the witch Wendy for last Carnival, so she turns everyone into frogs in a very comical way for a child of 30 months. I reminded this, looking at these eyes, very special of toad that you photographed SO WELL. For these incredible eyes frogs and toads are related to magic and spells .... even in the mind of a little girl, listening fairy tales where the line between frog and prince is a kiss ...Have nice week, dear Sonija, springtime is coming!!!
