Silent Swimmer

The Mute Swan   Cygnus olor.

As proud father looked on and kept guard on land, the female Mute Swan glided along with her young in tow. Photos taken earlier this year in the park.

This post is included in the WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY initiative.

OMG!!! These sweet swans and young ones almost make me in tears. I've already written to my other friends about our swans in our city park. Well, they (400 of them) were killed due to the bird-flu...

Have a wonderful rest of the week, Sonija.

Hi! again p;) I'm happy to know 'Cygnus olor' and cygnets (from Margaret). Yes, wonderfully fits the title of 'silent swimmer'. I LOVE the third picture as well♡♡♡

Thank you very much for sharing sweet pictures.
Sincerely from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

Beautiful. Was that one chick really so white or is it only the photo? Were its siblings the same shade or darker grey? There is a variety of mute swan, so called "Polish" swan, and they are white from the beginning of life (normally, young swans are brownish). They also have pinkish legs not black. That "Polnish" variety is inherited like hemophilia, as far as I know (so not all siblings in a family must be "Polish" )

Hi Sonjia!

I believe that calling it "the swan lake without music" would be a most fitting title...

Great shots!

With a friendly hug
