Timid Turtle Dove

Turtle Dove  Streptopelia turtur

This shy and watchful dove has given me the slip several times. It comes here every summer, but winters in tropical Africa.Too distant to get very clear shots, so these are the best I could do. This post is included in the WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY initiative by Stewart M and the blog Paying Ready Attention - Photo Gallery

You are so lucky to see this beauty. Turtle dove is now a rarity in my County .. just one sighting this year but not by me!

Beautiful bird. Do they make nests as clumsy as our California doves do?

Hi! Your turtle dove is quite different from the typical one I can see here (haha, appeared many times in my blog) and the second picture gave me a smile with its hiding pose♡♡♡ Thanks to blogging, I now can enjoy seeing or knowing rare or never would have known animals☆☆☆ Wonderful that they migrate to your country during warmer season.

ps. I was so surprised that the owner of the flower shop keeps the little window open for the parents of baby swallows(*^_^*) And so sorry for my bit late commenting, my dear new friend in Portugal♪

Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

You're lucky, because here in Spain there are fewer, among hunters, pesticides and other factors, the population of doves much diminished. Going from common to rare ...
Good catch and decked your blog;))
A hug (my new blog - http://www.baeticus.blogspot.com.es/)
