These Don't Get My Goat

The goat

A couple of days ago we ( hubby and I ) went up the mountain and discovered these unattended goats.I think the long haired bearded one is my favourite, and I'm only sorry that I didn't get the opportunity of taking more photos.I really must go back there one day and try to find them again.

very happy+lucky 2013! I love your goat-portraits, they look socool+friendly...

A very Happy New Year to you Sonjia :-) The goats are beautiful, they have rather a mischievous look in their eyes I think!

I was intrigued by the mention of your 'new hide' mentioned in your last reply to me. Is it one of those portable things? I must admit I am tempted by them but think I might feel rather self conscious about curious passers-by :-)

I wonder what the goat would make of it if they knew what feelings get stirred up when you show someone a photo of their eyes.... very dark and eerie i find them.... but on the whole a very pretty animal.

I know what you mean Shaun, they are rather strange looking, with the Do Not Enter sign inside, errr well a cautioned one perhaps!!!
Cheers.

Hello Jan, and a very Happy New Year to you too:)I haven't really done them justice, but I'm pleased you think they are beautiful.

After unsuccessfully searching for a hide that I could enter without having to bend down so much,I eventually had to have one made to measure so to speak. So far I have only used it on our property for exactly the reasons you mentioned, however in a quiet or remote place, I guess it would be OK.

The frame is made of light weight aluminium, with a removable green cover, and easily moved from one place to another.

I have never tried it, but I have tried cheese made of goats milk which I did not dislike.

Jana
Thank you Jana, we need all the luck we can get these days.

The goats where not unfriendly, but were on the move for most of the time, especially when I got too near them.

I envy you that you can see this from up close in the wild.

Breathtaking said...

Salma
I dare say they are more wild than domesticated, as they were allowed to roam free, but most of them had collers, and I dare say would be herded together by someone later in the day.

:) So glad you think so:)

I was fascinated by the bearded goat. It's long hair reached the grownd, similar to the Afghan Hound. Yes, I must try to find them again to show you this!! So glad you liked them.

I am painting a pastel portrate of a young girl at the moment. It is such an enjoyable experience because there is no time limit stipulated, and I can paint at my leasure.I have to work at a slower pace these days, but it's good practice.

I now know what anthropomorphic means - the first shot captures exactly the physiognomy of a particularly droll lecturer who amused most of us students.

As Hilaire Belloc wrote......

The Llama is a woolly sort of fleecy hairy goat,
With an indolent expression and an undulating throat
Like an unsuccessful literary man.

You make the goat look very very handsome:) Nice work!!! Hope you have a happy New Year. Looking forward to the new blogging year:) All my best. Chris

Goat is one of my favorite animals but we don't see them very often in Hong Kong. Love the photos.

I so loved seeing these photographs; I have a 'soft-spot' for goats and these look like real characters. It made me smile too and brought back memories of the goats we kept when I was a child. I didn't enjoy sometimes having to milk them before going to school though (especially when they were determined to put a hoof into the milk bucket!).

Hello Sonia!Forgive me but I almost missed your comment. So glad I saw it, because you are always so generous with your words.

Thank you my friend. The goats were
passive, but on the move most of the time, making it difficult to catch up with them, so I will go back, and try again.
