Thank you for your nice comment on my blog. I have neglected your blog lately. And that is too bad, because you have also beautiful pictures on your blogs. Your young blackbird and the damselfly-blog are very good. Now I am here I read your profile at the same time and it was if it was mine. Almost exact the same story, but my first love was dancing. Due to a lasting sport injury I hardly can walk anymore and that together with the remaining problems of a broken back makes life not realy easy. But more than a year ago I rediscovered my old hobby photoghraphy again and it brought back happiness. It opened my eyes for all the beauty of nature and I also do not want to miss it anymore. Have a nice evening. Greetings, Joke

Lovely to hear from you again, and thank you so much for your very nice comment.Getting round to see all the blogs we follow isn't always easy when there are so many other things that need our attention in the (real world):)
Cheers.

Hi Ana
It's hard to tell some juveniles apart, and I'm not very good at
distinguishing one from another.
Especially between the juvenile robin, nightingale, and blackbird.
Thanks for your suggestion.I'll keep it in mind.
Cheers Ana.

Susan
He is very pretty. He stayed around the garden for a couple of days, but I never saw the parents. He seemed so fragile to be on his own.
See you soon.:)

Good morning Bob.Thank you so much for getting back to me. It could well be a Robin, as two separate pairs of Robins are around the garden.
Cheers.

Rohrerbot
Thank you!! He is a sweet looking little bird, just peeking over his shoulder, before drinking.
See you.

Nice of you to come Stuart. I also thought it was a bit too light in colour.I have looked at lots of photos, and considered the possibility that it could bethrush related, but wasn't sure.Thank you so much for your take on this.

I think it's a blackbird fledgling
so..........

I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The blackbird whistling
Or just after.

Hi Sonjia, I'm so pleased to know your name :-)

What a lovely photo but then your photos always are! You captured its inquisitive look beautifully! I actually looked at it yesterday...and looked...and looked...and was completely puzzled as I was positive I was looking at a young Robin. I though it looked too light colored and small and the wrong stance for a Blackbird but of course it's not always easy to tell in a photo and not being too sure what birds you have in Portugal I thought, coward that I am ;-) that I would wait and see what others said. I do think though it's definitely a Robin and very pretty it is too :-)

Warmest good wishes Jan.

Breathtaking said...

Hi Jan
Cowardly, no not at all, prudent perhaps!!I did consider the possibility that it could be a robin, but thought it looked a bit big, and now wish I had waited a little longer before posting. Everyone's been so helpful and I appreciate it very much.
Thank you so much Jan,I bow to your superior knowledge, and will change the caption this evening.
Warmest regards.

Such an endearing image. I thought that young Robin looked slightly daunted by the world about him.

Breathtaking said...

Jerry
Thank you Jerry!I thought it was endearing too.The world can look a scary place for one so young.

He is so pretty. I assume he is a European robin. From the pictures I've seen on blogs I know they are quite different from the birds we call robins in the States.

Breathtaking said...

Hi Martha
Yes its a European Robin, although there was some discrepancy about the identity of this bird, I've eventually decided with the help of
fellow bloggers that it is indeed
a sweet little Robin.
Thanks for passing by Martha.

Having first thought it was a young
blackbird,I eventually concluded with help from fellow bloggers that
it was indeed a juvenile robin.
