The Mountaineer

Purple-shot Copper
(L. a. gordius)

This Purple.shot Copper butterfly is so bright and pretty that I just couldn't stop taking photos of it! This beautiful little butterfly is seldom seen below 1,000m. It can be found in the Alps, Pyrenees, and other neighbouring ranges.

Yes, you're right, it is pretty amazing. When I first saw it I could'nt believe my eyes. There are plenty orange butterflies but not with a blue body, which makes it a bit special.

Stunning colour contrasts. No butterflies in my garden this year and very few elsewhere. A sign of climate change? As predicted it's Wimbledon so it's raining!

Breathtaking said...

Len

Thank you Len! It was a bright sunny day when I took these photos
so the colour contrasts show very well. Butterflies started to appear in my garden as far back as March! Haven't seen any for three days though due to rain.
